DESMOGLEIN 3 TEST

DESCRIPTION – screening test for patients suspected to have an autoimmune blistering disorder of the skin or mucous membranes, as an aid in the diagnosis of pemphigus, and monitoring treatment response in patients with a confirmed diagnosis of pemphigus

METHODOLOGY – semi quantitative enzyme linked immunosorbent assay

TURN AROUND TIME – 3-9 days

SPECIMEN REQUIERED –

COLLECT – plain red or serum separator tube

SPECIMEN PREPARATION – transfer 2 ml serum to transport tube

STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – refrigerated

STABILITY – ambient: 1 week; refrigerated: 2 weeks; frozen: indefinitely

UNACCEPTABLE CONDITION – hemolyzed or lipemic specimen and plasma

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS – clinical history is mandatory
