BRUCELLA IgM ANTIBODY TEST
DESCRIPTION – the Brucella antibody test is conducted to measure the level of brucella antibody – IgM in the blood. The test is also performed to confirm zoonotic disease. It is also used during and after the treatment of the disease. Zoonotic disease is an infectious disease that is transferred from animals to humans or vice-versa.
METHODOLOGY – semi quantitative agglutination
TURN AROUND TIME – 2-4 days
PATIENT PREPARATION –
COLLECT – serum separator tube
SPECIMEN PREPARATION – separate the serum from cells within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 ml serum to transport tube
STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – refrigerated
STABILITY – ambient: 48 hours; refrigerated: 2 weeks; frozen: 6 months
UNACCEPTABLE CONDITION – contaminated, heat-inactivated, hemolyzed or severely lipemic specimens
