Retinitis Panel by PCR 3 DNA Viruses

DESCRIPTION - Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is a group of rare hereditary disorders that affect vision. These disorders are caused by abnormalities of the photoreceptors of the retina. Early symptoms of RP, such as night blindness or reduced peripheral vision typically develop in childhood or adolescence.

COLLECT – nasopharyngeal swab

SPECIMEN PREPARATION – place in viral transport media

STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – frozen

STABILITY – refrigerated:4 days; frozen: 1 month

UNACCEPTABLE CONDITION – alternate media

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS – clinical history is mandatory
