DESCRIPTION – an undetected result indicates that hepatitis E virus RNA is not detected in the serum specimen. Repeat testing in 1 to 2 months is recommended to those who are at risk of HEV infection

COLLECT – lavender (EDTA), pink (potassium EDTA), or serum separator tube

SPECIMEN PREPARATION – separate plasma from cells and transfer 1 ml of plasma or serum
