Everything you need to know about Rapid Antigen Test

Jan 2022

The Rapid Antigen Test is a rapid diagnostic test that identifies the presence or absence of antigen in person. It is commonly used to detect the SARS-COV-2 virus that is usually caused by COVID-19. Rapid Antigen Test is commonly called by so many names like Rapid Antigen Detection Test(RADT), Antigen Rapid Test (ART), Rapid Test, or lateral flow test. The Rapid Antigen Test is detecting the certain proteins that are present in the virus.

Rapid Antigen Test Delhi is one of the most useful applications for the Covid-19 test. The Rapid Antigen Test Delhi is the respiratory tract of the person who has symptoms of the COVID virus to help detect the viral protein or antigen related to the covid-19 virus. When the virus level in the body of a person is likely to be high it gets easily detected in rapid antigen tests. The Rapid Antigen test is authorized to be performed on nasopharyngeal or nasal swab specimens. It is done by collecting a sample from the nostril, using a swab from the person. The swab will go only a few centimeters inside the nose.

The Rapid Antigen Test Delhi is done to detect protein fragments specific to the COVID. The Rapid Antigen Test Delhi is detecting patients who are quite symptomatic. It is done by collecting samples from the nose or throat with the help of a swab. A paid antigen test is a diagnostic test. It generally has an absolute and instant result. Rapid Antigen Test is available near you and can easily be done anywhere. It is also known as point-of-care tests.

The accuracy rate in the Rapid Antigen test is less compared to RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction) that is used to detect upper respiratory specimens looking for the genetic material of the SARS-CoV2 virus. The Rapid Antigen Tests can produce results in 15-30 minutes. The positive rapid antigen test result is considered accurate if the instructions are carefully followed. There may be a chance of false-negative results; it means there will be a possibility to be infected with the virus but have a negative result. Depending on the situation, at that time doctor or physician may recommend an RT-PCR test to confirm a negative rapid antigen test result. During, COVID a person can go from not being infectious to being very infectious in about 2 days.  If you can test after 15 days or a month, then you could easily be infectious for about 10-14 days without knowing it and be spreading the virus to everyone. If you test weekly, you are much more likely to know the first day you're infectious.

In our country coronavirus cases are rising every day especially in major states like Mumbai, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, etc. Many people lost their love once in the pandemic. Even now, new variants are coming with new mutations day by day.  Is very difficult to detect viruses. As we know in most of the cities it is difficult for the laboratories and hospitals to take the RT-PCR test and other antibody tests to maintain their reports for almost 2-4 days. It affects the delay of the report.

The new coronavirus Omicron is spreading very frequently. With Omicron cases rising day by day, doubts and queries have increased manifold. As the nation comes under the right touch of an imminent third wave of coronavirus infection. Positivity rates of COVID cases are increasing day by day in Delhi and testing is also increasing frequently everywhere which includes home-based testing and laboratory testing. Most people avoid going outside their homes, they prefer to have home testing. Delhi has started Rapid Antigen Testing that gives easy and fast results within 15-30 minutes. For Delhi, the paid antigen testing is very useful as the state has mass testing every day. It reduces the load on the RT-PCR test to detect the COVID virus in patients.

The RAT kit is developed by The Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), Delhi to detect the COVID virus frequently. It was started on 20 June 2020 in Delhi and was approved by the ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research).  This kit is commonly used for the detection of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that is caused by COVID-19. The testing gives positive results if the person is infected through the virus and gives negative results when the infection has gone. The best testing tool kit in Delhi for COVID as it is cheaper in cost and gets testing results within 30 minutes.

The cost of a Rapid test is cheap and less than RT-PCR and gives accurate results. The Delhi government on 4th August 2021 has put the rates on covid testing detection in private hospitals and laboratories. The cost of Rapid Antigen Tests in private hospitals and labs is Rs 300 whereas the cost of RT- PCR tests in private and labs is Rs 500. This is the major change done by the Delhi government that RAT is more cost-effective than RT- PCR. In Delhi, private hospitals and laboratories are collecting samples from people's homes. They also provide Rapid Antigen Testing Delhi at homes. The nurses and volunteers are visiting backward areas in Delhi for sample collections and RAT testing.
