METHODOLOGY – capillary electrophoresis
TURN AROUND TIME – 5-9 days
SPECIMEN REQUIERED –
COLLECT – whole blood or bone marrow, formalin fixed tissue, lavender (EDTA), green (sodium heparin)
SPECIMEN PREPARATION – transport 5 ml whole blood, 3 ml bone marrow, 100 mg tissue (immediate freeze) or formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue block
STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE –
Whole blood or bone marrow – refrigerated
Fresh tissue – frozen
FFPE tumor tissue – room temperature
STABILITY –
Whole blood – ambient: 24 hours; refrigerated: 5 days
Fresh tissue – refrigerated: 2 hours; frozen: 1 year
FFPE tumor tissue – ambient: indefinitely; refrigerated: indefinitely
UNACCEPTABLE CONDITION – plasma, serum, extracted DNA, clotted specimens, alternate fixatives
