CLINICAL UTILITY – prognostic markers in patient with multiple myeloma
COMPONENTS – del 17p, t (14;20), monosomy 1, t (14;16), t (11;14), del 13q, and t (4;14)
METHODOLOGY – fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)

PATIENT PREPARATION –
COLLECT – non diluted bone marrow aspirate
SPECIMEN PREPARATION – 3-4 ml bone marrow or peripheral blood in sodium heparin (green top) or EDTA (lavender top) tube
STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – 2-8 degrees C (with cold pack)
STABILITY – ambient: 48 hours; refrigerated: 48 hours
