Monosomy 7/ Del7q

DESCRIPTION – monosomy 7 means complete loss of chromosome 7. It is one of the most common cytogenetic abnormalities in pediatric and adult myeloid malignancies.

METHODOLOGY – fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)

PATIENT PREPARATION –

COLLECT – non diluted bone marrow or sodium heparin

SPECIMEN PREPARATION – 3-4 ml bone marrow or peripheral blood in green top (sodium heparin) or lavender top (EDTA) tube

STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – 2-8 degrees C (with cold pack)
