MET
DESCRIPTION – MET is a growth receptor for tyrosine kinase. MET gene makes a protein which sends signals within cells and in cell growth and survival. MET gene amplifies and makes extra copies of MET gene which causes uncontrollable growth and leads to cancer.
CLINICAL UTILITY – for NSCLC patients developed resistance against TKI and the crizotinib therapy. Screening test for MET gene amplification.
METHODOLOGY – fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)
