IDH1 and IDH2 gene mutation

DESCRIPTION – iso-citrate dehydrogenase 1 and 2 are key metabolic enzymes that convert iso-citrate to an alpha ketoglutarate. IDH1/2 mutations define distinct subsets of cancers, including low grade gliomas and secondary glioblastomas, chondro-sarchomas, intrahepatic, colangiocarcinomas and hematologic malignancies

PATIENT PREPARATION –

COLLECT – lavender (EDTA), bone marrow

SPECIMEN PREPARATION – transport 5 ml whole blood or 3 ml bone marrow

STABILITY – ambient: 24 hours; refrigerated: 5 days

UNACCEPTABLE CONDITIONS – plasma, serum, FFPE tissue, or frozen tissue, extracted DNA or clotted specimens
