CLINICAL UTILITY – this test is used to detect prognostic important genetic abnormalities in CLL
COMPONENTS – del 6q, del 11q, del 13q, trisomy 12, del 17q
METHODOLOGY – fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)

PATIENT PREPARATION –
COLLECT – non- diluted bone marrow aspirate or sodium heparin
SPECIMEN PREPARATION – 3-4 ml bone marrow or peripheral blood in lavender top (EDTA) or green top (sodium heparin)
STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – room temperature
STABILITY – ambient: 48 hours; refrigerated: 48 hours
UNACCEPTABLE CONDITIONS – clotted specimens

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS – clinical history is mandatory including histopathological reports
