PATIENT PREPARATION –

COLLECT – lavender (EDTA), pink (potassium EDTA), or serum separator tube

SPECIMEN PREPARATION – transport 1 ml whole blood, serum or plasma in a sterile container

STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – refrigerator

STABILITY – ambient: 24 hours; refrigerated: 5 days; frozen: 1 year

UNACCEPTABLE CONDITION – frozen whole blood or clotted specimens
