Uric Acid Serum Test Faridabad

What is Uric Acid Serum Test?

Uric acid test is done to detect high levels of uric acid in the blood

Why take Uric Acid Serum Test?

By the breakdown of purines uric acid is produced. Purines are nitrogen-containing compounds found within the cells of the body, including our DNA. The level of uric acid in the blood or urine is measured this test. If an excessive amount of acid is produced or not enough is removed, it can accumulate within the body, causing increased levels within the blood (hyperuricemia). The presence of excess acid can cause gout, a condition characterized by inflammation of the joints because of the formation of acid crystals within the joint (synovial) fluid. Excess acid also gets deposited in tissues like the kidney, resulting in kidney stones or renal failure. As cells get old and die, they break down, releasing purines into the blood. To a lesser extent, purines may come from the digestion of certain foods, like liver, anchovies, mackerel, dried beans and peas and certain alcoholic drinks, primarily beer. Most acid is removed from the body by the kidneys and is eliminated from the body through urine, with the rest eliminated via stool.

Interpretations

Higher than normal acid levels within the blood is named hyperuricemia and may be caused by producing an excessive amount of acid within the body or because of the failure of the kidneys to adequately remove enough acid from the body. Low levels of acid within the blood are seen much less commonly than high levels and are seldom considered cause for concern. Although low values are often related to some sorts of liver or kidney diseases,
Urine
High acid levels within the urine are seen with gout, myeloma, metastatic cancer, leukaemia, and a diet high in purines. Those vulnerable to kidney stones, who have high acid levels in their urine could also be given medication to stop stone formation.
Low urine acid levels could also be seen with renal disorder, chronic alcohol use, and lead poisoning.
