Zika Virus Serum or Urine

DESCRIPTION - Zika virus NAAT and IgM testing should be performed on maternal serum and NAAT on maternal urine. If the Zika virus NAATs are negative and the IgM is positive, confirmatory PRNTs should be performed against Zika and dengue.

COLLECT – serum separator tube

SPECIMEN PREPARATION - 3 mL serum and 3 mL urine collected in a plastic, leak-proof urine container

STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – refrigerated

STABILITY – refrigerated: 7 days; frozen: 30 days
