DESCRIPTION – inherited cardiomyopathy is a major cause of heart disease in all age groups, often with an onset in adolescence or early adult life.

METHODOLOGY – polymerase chain reaction (PCR)

TURN AROUND TIME – 8 days

PATIENT PREPARATION –

COLLECT – lavender (EDTA) or yellow (ACD solution A or B)

SPECIMEN PREPARATION – transport 3 ml whole blood

STORAGE/ TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – refrigerated

STABILITY – ambient: 72 hours; refrigerator: 1 week
