BCL6 (3q27.3) Gene Rearrangement
DESCRIPTION – BCL6 (B-cell lymphoma 6) is localized at 3q27. BCL6 rearrangement is a chromosomal abnormality in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and follicular lymphoma. Structural and microdeletions are included under structural rearrangements. FISH assay may detect the BCL6 rearrangements either in metaphase or interphase.
METHODOLOGY – florescence in situ hybridization (FISH)

PATIENT PREPARATION –
COLLECT – tumor tissue
SPECIMEN PREPARATION – formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue block. Protect the slides from excessive heat
STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURE – room temperature (8-25 degrees C)
UNACCEPTABLE CONDITIONS – alternative fixatives, and decalcified specimens
